Component

Outline

Sliding roof drive gear (Sliding roof ECU)

The sliding roof ECU controls the sliding roof motor rotation forward and backward, which tilts or slides the sliding roof glass.

Roof console box (Sliding roof switch)

Output of operation signals from the built-in sliding roof switch to the sliding roof ECU is performed by the roof console box.

Main body ECU

This transmits the vehicle speed signal and the key-linked operation signals.

3. SYSTEM OPERATION

The sliding roof has the following features.

Function

Outline

Manual slide open and close

This function causes the sliding roof to open (or close) when the SLIDE switch is pressed for less than 0.3 seconds. The sliding roof stops as soon as the switch is released.

Auto slide open and close

This function causes the sliding roof to be fully opened (or closed) when the SLIDE switch is pressed for 0.3 seconds or more.

Manual tilt up and down

This function causes the sliding roof to tilt up (or down) when the TILT switch is pressed for less than 0.3 seconds.

Auto tilt up and down

This function enables the sliding roof to tilt up (or down) when the TILT switch is pressed for 0.3 seconds or more.

Jam protection function

The jam protection function automatically stops the sliding roof and makes it open halfway (or fully tilts it upward) if a foreign object gets jammed in the sliding roof during auto close (or auto tilt down) operation.

Key-off operation

The key-off operation function makes it possible to operate the sliding roof for approximately 45 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off, if the front doors are not opened.

Key-linked open/close operation

When the driver door is locked and the key is inserted into the driver door key cylinder and turned and held in the lock position for 3.0 seconds or more, the sliding roof ECU activates the sliding roof motor to close the sliding roof while the key is turned. Similarly, when the driver door is unlocked and the key is inserted in the driver door and turned and held in unlock position for 3.0 seconds or more, the sliding roof ECU activates the sliding roof motor to slide open/tilt up the sliding roof.

Deflector Operation

The height of the deflector is controlled in response to the vehicle speed signal when the roof is fully open, in order to improve comfort while the vehicle is in motion.
